The Big Move

Well here it is the day before I move out of my house of 12 years, and now I have to deal with Hurricane Sandy. Luckily it looks like it will skip y the east coast of Florida with little or no effect. I certainly hope so. The last thing I need is ay kind of damage two days before closing.

Goodbye Coconut Bay. I'll miss you

-->

The move out of my house In Oyster Bay along the Indian River Lagoon is exactly one week away. I have mixed emotions about leaving the house I designed and built in 1999. After all I often thought that I would be buried in the backyard under one of my palm trees. But I’m single again and the house is too big for me and the upkeep too expensive.

I found a beautiful 2/2 Villa in Pointe West in Vero Beach with a great view of the main gazebo from the front porch. I’ll be close to friends that also live in the neighborhood. That was one thing that I lacked in Oyster Bay. Friends. I have nice neighbors but no friends. Never hung out with anyone there and they all seemed to keep to themselves. PW is a pretty, family neighborhood with community pools, playgrounds a great golf course and club and Polo fields.

It’s very different from any place I have ever lived before. I’m looking forward to it but will certainly miss my old friend in Oyster Bay.

Air boating at Stick Marsh!

I went on my first airboat ride this past weekend and I highly recommend it to everyone. It was really quit thrilling. There is nothing like sliding across a sea of water and grass. The location was the Stick Marsh west of Vero Beach Florida.

The stick marsh area and Blue Cyprus Lake are the headwaters of the St Johns river which is one of a few rivers in the USA that flow north. The St Johns and it's marshes run 310 miles north to Jacksonville. Created in 1987, the Stick Marsh/Farm 13 Reservoir is synonymous with trophy bass fishing. This 6,500-acre reservoir near Fellsmere, west of Vero Beach, became one of the hottest bass lakes in the country during the past decade.

We were treated to a variety of wildlife, numerous birds, deer and of course alligators, lots and lots of alligators. The pictures you see are of the boat we toured on and the type of scenery you will experience.
